Makuta is part of the $100 million dollar Sansyu Group of companies, the oldest and largest micro molding and micro-mold making company in the world. Sansyu has been the leader in micro precision since 1942, when the company began production of miniature clock components. Throughout the 60’s and 70’s production shifted towards high quality, precision plastic components as the markets for these products grew within the automotive and electronics industries.
While Makuta and Sansyu continue to produce quality, precision parts for the automotive and electronics industries, Makuta has focused the technology to advancements within the health care industry. As the American population ages, the demand for new medical and pharmaceutical technology is increasing. Makuta’s ability to produce precision components that fit these needs has led to a new breed of hearing aid components, catheter tips, ELISA strips, in-vitro diagnostics and food packaging applications. We continually challenge conventional wisdom and the boundaries of what can and cannot be done in manufacturing.
Also key to our technology is our relationship with our machine maker, Sumitomo Machinery Corporation. Sumitomo has worked with the Sansyu group of companies extensively to custom build machines based on the research our companies have performed. This research has led to the creation of micro molding machines that feature slide mechanisms versus traditional rotary platent mechanisms, typically seen in multi-material applications. These machines are used exclusively in our plants.
